Offshore Charter FishingWith an offshore charter, you will be fishing with up to six anglers on your fishing trip, and you will have a captain, and one or two mates to get the bait, prepare the fishing rods and tackle and to bait hooks and remove the fish from the line and clean your catch. This type of Florida fishing charter typically runs from $450 up to $875 for a full day of fishing depending on the size of the boat. Boats can range in size from 24' open fishermen with an outboard engine up to 60' sport fishing monsters with twin diesel power, air conditioning and other luxuries. Size doesn't always matter in Fishing, all the gizmos in the world wont help without a competent crew. The Florida Keys are home to some of the worlds best Captains and Mates. Fishing involves trolling offshore for pelagic species such as Dolphin, Wahoo and Tuna, Slow trolling with live bait in the winter months for Sailfish and King Mackerel, and anchoring up on the reefline and bottom fishing for Snapper and Grouper. Backcountry FishingBackcountry fishing is another world altogether. You will be fishing on a boat from 15' to 20' with a flat bottom, the waters of the Florida Keys backcountry are quite shallow in spots, some boats only draw 10" or less fully loaded. The size of the boat dictates how many anglers it can accommodate, typically 1-3 anglers. Prices generally range from $325 up to $450 for a full day. You may drift fish or anchor for Tarpon and Spotted Sea Trout, pole the flats stalking Bonefish, Redfish and Permit or take a trip up into the Florida Everglades for any of these species. Partyboat FishingPartyboat (Headboat) fishing in the Florida Keys involves fishing aboard a larger boat (from 50-75 feet typically) with many other anglers, from 10 to 50 or more. This can be alot of fun even if you don't catch many fish. It is also considerably less expensive than either of the above options. Your trip is limited to bottom fishing for Snapper and Grouper, and other species that may happen by. Prices range from $25 to $50.
